This picture was taken at the Bank St Annex in Easton, PA.
The toasts and speeches are an important part of the wedding reception. I am always trying to photograph these moments from a different point of view.
For this particular picture during Deanna and Scott's wedding at the Bank St Annex, I choose to use the available backlight that was next to the dance floor behind everyone. I waited for some stronger body language from the speaker since you cannot see facial expression in a silhouette. That helps to add context to the picture as well. It is not common that the couple will stand and face the speaker but I'm glad they did otherwise this shot would not have worked.
