This picture was taken at Franklin Square in Philadelphia, PA.
The groom and groom-to-be, Marc and Kai, wanted to have their engagement session at Franklin Square and certainly wanted to take advantage of the merry-go-round. I thought it would make for a great backdrop for some of their engagement photography.
For this picture, I wanted to show the motion of the carousel. I thought that was a nice visual metaphor for the movement of Marc and Kai's relationship towards marriage. To create this effect, I used a slow shutter speed to get motion from the spinning carousel while I told Marc and Kai to stay very still. I'm happy with how this picture turned out.
The execution of this picture speaks to why it is important to be skilled in the technical side of photography. I had a vision in my mind and was able to create it by understanding what settings to use in my camera.
