This picture was taken at the Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, PA.
The bride and groom-to-be, Alicia and Craig, wanted to explore the city of Bethlehem during their engagement session. One of the locations they wanted to incorporate into their photography was the industrial look of Steel Stacks. This is the former Bethlehem Steel plant.
I had Alicia and Craig standing in front of the Steel Stack's facade which showed off the texture and character of the environment around them. I got the two of them interacting with each other and making jokes to get them to react. They clearly are very good at making each other smile!
99% of my couples feel uncomfortable, at first, about having their pictures taken. That's totally understandable because most people are not used to being in front of the camera. They specifically ask me to give them direction so they don't feel awkward. I think of the portraits of the couple like 3 people just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. I never want the experience to feel stiff or uncomfortable and I do and say whatever is necessary to get my couples to feel that they can be their genuine selves while having their engagement pictures taken.
