The getting ready pictures are a very important part of wedding photography. It's the foundation for the day and often has a more quiet mood as compared to the ceremony and reception. There are less people there and the celebration and party has not completely started.
This image was taken shortly after Jacki got into her dress. While I gave Jacki some direction as to where to get dressed so that I had some nice lighting and composition, I did not know what would happen next. Her daughter walked over to her and gave her a big hug. It was such a sweet moment between them and I'm glad I was able to capture it with the beautiful lighting that I planned on for Jacki getting into the dress.
I alway try to put my subject in beautiful light with a pleasing composition and no distracting element in the background. What unfolds after that, whether planned or unplanned, will have that great lighting and composition that I originally planned on.
