This picture was taken at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, PA.
There are a variety of portraits taken on the wedding day. Some are of the couple, some are of the family, and some are of the wedding party. When I photograph the wedding party I do individual portraits as well as larger groupings.
In this particular picture, I wanted to do a more Vanity Fair style group portrait. This was not about big smiles or goofing around but rather about being more stoic and reserved. To create the "look" in this picture I individually lit each member of the wedding party and then composited all the pictures together. It is a technique used on movie posters as well and it has a more dramatic look to it.
